Ultherapy by Merz, is a non-invasive procedure that lifts and tightens the face, neck, and décolletage. The Sub-Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) is a thin layer of strong connective tissue beneath the skin that loosens and descends as we age.

With aging, the SMAS membrane begins to lose its elasticity, which can lead to a cascading effect on the face — sagging cheeks along the jaw bone, fleshy jowls, droopy brows, a double chin, and more noticeable nasolabial folds.

Ultherapy uses ultrasonic energy, which is the same technology used for ultrasound imaging (i.e. during pregnancy). The machine uses sound wave energy which goes through the skin and targets the SMAS membrane. The ultrasound energy causes the SMAS to contract and stimulates collagen growth, which aesthetically results in a firming, wrinkle-smoothing, and contouring effect, including tightening sagging skin on the face, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, erasing extra skin on the chin, defining jaw lines, and lifting brows.
